For my senior capstone project, I decided to create a modular system that enables children to build forts. Fort building is a pillar of childhood. It allows mind stimulation through creative problem solving and energetic play, but it can be messy. Fort Support provides a new way to help build forts, and also keep the mess in control – or at least try to! Fort Support offers customization in order to yield creativity for every child who wants to play. Many toys that allow children to build take away children’s creativity, so this allows children to test structures and learn as they create. Fort Support is a sub-brand for Building Buddies, which I created as a way to expand and continue the project, as well as, bring it to market. Building Buddies is committed to enabling children to be creative and engage in physical play for happy and healthy development. It’s about providing an outlet for freedom of play and the tools to build and create, which are essential to child development. Toys are tools for learning. With these tools, the foundation is built for children to enjoy the creativity process and freedom to explore whatever they please without fear.
