Trapped! Escape Room’s The Edge of the Enchanted Forest
You’ve heard rumors about people disappearing into a magical land in a local historical home. So you decide to go on a tour, and the guide stops you all for a bathroom break. Your little group sneaks off to try and see some of the house that isn’t open to visitors, and you find yourselves in a tiny cupboard that leads you into a magical land. Once you enter, Diyeardra the woodland fairy warns you that the Destroyers are coming and your only escape is by proving your worthiness to the Tree of Travelers. Will you be worthy enough to pass the tests and escape without being destroyed?
While working for Trapped! we opened our fourth location in the greater Cleveland area, and in it is The Edge of the Enchanted Forest. This was my baby. It’s Trapped!’s only room designed for 2-4 people, so it’s serving the small groups that couldn’t play and win before. I wanted people to walk in and feel like they were entering an enchanted forest. The first room is meant to feel like a magical cupboard. Once they enter into the forest, they see artificial grass, hear the sound of the forest and the characters I created interacting with them, they see the graphics of the forest and the lighting changes as the game goes on, and feel fully immersed. I wrote the storyline and designed the game in Autodesk Fusion 360. I created all of the technical drawings, sourced and purchased the parts, and I even helped with assembly. I learned how to setup the electronics which consists of 5 electromagnetic locks connected to relay modules in the control room and set off by magnetic reed switches. I created the game in EscapeRoomMaster where the gamemasters run the game. The sound and lighting functions through it and the gamemasters deliver the clues through it, as well.
